New YouTube homepage in the works

19 01 2011
  • Apparently YouTube is allowing people to opt in for testing our their new homepage instead of using a A/B model.
  • This ones kind of obvious, but according to this article from WebProNews, people like groups! There are some pretty interesting stats in this article though including, “In this survey, 62% of online adults use social networking sites and 12% use Twitter. Groups are moving aggressively into social media spaces to connect with members:
48% of those who are active in groups say that those groups have a page on a social networking site like Facebook.”
  • According to Forrester Research, U.S. companies will spend $1.676 billion on email in 2012. They’ll spend $1.649 billion on social media. When people ask you how big the social media business opportunity is, tell them it’s about the same as the email business opportunity. Very big. But nowhere near search, or television, or radio.
  • A new report from eMarketer predicts that Facebook’s ad revenue will soar from $1.86 billion in 2010 to $4.05 billion this year. That works out to a year-over-year increase of about 118 percent, which is rather remarkable.  Facebook’s good fortune isn’t supposed to end there, either, with eMarketer forecasting that its ad revenue will hit $5.74 billion in 2012.
