The lines between social media and email are starting to blur

  • “The popularity of social networking services, along with changing demographics and work styles, will lead 20 percent of employees to use social networks as a main business communication tool by 2014, according to a new report from Gartner. With Facebook expected to launch its own email service on Monday, analysts at Gartner seem to be right on target.” Full article here
  • I’ve covered this a lot, but Marketing Pilgrim has an article that covers many different approaches to Twitter strategy and success.
  • First impressions last, which is exactly why landing pages are critical to conversions. Brad Geddes from Founder of PPC training firm bgTheory says, “”Landing page optimization – it is critical,” he says. “If you have an account that has several thousand clicks and no conversions, it’s the landing page. That’s always the issue.”” Article here.
  • Link building by directory submission is something I have been working on recently, but according to Search Engine Roundtable, its days may be numbered. High profile directory has announced it’s shutting down and Yahoo has been closing directories as well. I’m guessing that as Google grows more efficient the need for directories diminishes.
