What’s going on in the world of SEO today?

–      Facebook announced a few Platform updates, including updates to the Live Stream Plugin, Liked articles appearing in search results, and improvements to real-time updates.

–      Yesterday was Google’s 12th Birthday

–      There are rumours of a minor change to Google rankings possibly only in the UK with sites reporting sudden drops in ranking http://www.seroundtable.com/archives/022957.html

–      Some ongoing issues with Business listings on Google Maps were addressed by a Google representative stating, “We’re aware some of the business listings were not appearing on Google Maps earlier today. This was a technical issue that’s now been resolved.” But it was not resolved.

–      Google’s Adwords blog announced on Friday that they were taking their newest keyword tool out of beta and that it had been launched as the only tool in AdWords and it was to be called “The Keyword Tool”.With the newly updated feature, users will now have the ability to search by keywords, websites and categories and will receive a single set of results. –      AOL said today that seven brands have signed on as founding partners for its new display advertising format called “Project Devil.” Found partners include General Mills brands Cheerios, Pillsbury Crescents, Lexus, Macy’s, Procter & Gamble’s Olay, Sprint, and Unilever’s Suave Professionals.  The Project Devil ad format launches today on AOL’s Moviefone site and StyleList site before being introduced on other AOL properties. –      Google was convicted of defamation in France due to its suggest feature, which was adding rapist and Satanist when a defendant in a criminal case had his name typed into google.
